The Ministry of Science and Technology and UEH co-organize the Seminar: Reviewing 10 years of science and technology market development in the period 2011 – 2020

On the morning of April 15, 2021, National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Development and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City co-organized the Seminar on “Reviewing 10 years of developing science and technology market in the 2011-2020 period “.

In order to summarize and evaluate the results of science and technology market development in the 2011-2020 period and discuss orientations and solutions to develop the science and technology market in the period of 2021-2030, National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Development, Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the Seminar “Reviewing10 years of science and technology market development in the 2011 – 2020 period “ at Hall B1.302 (Campus B – UEH).

The program was honored to welcome Mr. Tran Van Tung, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Pham Duc Nghiem, Deputy Director of NATEC and leadership representatives of other MOST units including Department of Planning and Finance, Department of Legislation, Department of Technology Appraisal, Examination and Assessment, Department of Organization and Personnel, National Agency for Science and Technology Information , State Agency for Technology Innovation, National Technology Innovation Fund.

Other senior representatives are Mr. Tran Nam Tu – Deputy Director of Science, Technology and Environment Department (MOET), Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan – Director of Department of Agricultural Products Processing and Market Development Department (MARD); Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh An – Deputy Director General of Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (MOIT), Asso.Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – UEH Rector and leaders of about 40 local Departments of Science and Technology; representatives of research institutes, universities, associations, and S&T market intermediaries; domestic and foreign businesses; Speakers attended the seminars, press and television units.

At the seminar, delegates focused on discussing some important contents to orient the development of the science and technology market in the period of 2021-2030, thereby helping managers to have the right solutions in develop science and technology market in association with innovation. Open, insightful sharing contributions at the seminar helped managers have a multi-dimensional, deep and comprehensive perspective in the formulation and implementation of policies for science and technology market development in the next period – The stage of science and technology development associated with innovation, developing the science and technology market in association with the context of the 4th industrial revolution and national digital transformation.

The seminar comprises of 02 panel discussion sessions.

Session 1 on Policy Dialogue on the development of science and technology market for the period 2011-2020. The objectives are to identify difficulties in mechanisms and policies to develop the S&T market from the perspectives of the localities and the region, Institute, University; to identify barriers against the linkage among Institutes, Schools, and Enterprises in the commercialization of research results; barriers against the access to national S&T programs; and suggested solutions.

Session 2 on The Orientations for Science and Technology Market Development in the period of 2021-2030 with the purpose of promoting the development of S&T market in the 2021-2030 period in a new context.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the tasks and solutions to develop the science and technology market in the period 2021-2030 will focus on: completing the legal environment; promoting scientific and practical research to develop the science and technology market; developing science and technology market intermediaries; promoting the demand of the science and technology market; improving the capacity of enterprises to absorb, master and innovate technology. In particular, the supply of the science – technology market will be focused, the science and technology market promotion will be strengthened and linked, synchronizing with the commodity and labor markets and finance. In addition, the Ministry of Science and Technology will focus on training and fostering human resources, developing the national infrastructure of the science and technology market.

The seminar was successful, bringing valuable information and proposals, on the basis of which providing strategic directions in developing the science and technology market in the period of 2021-2030.
