To provide high-quality human resources capable of meeting the demands of the new technology wave, UEH launched the Technology Management and Innovation program in 2021. This is the first bachelor's program in Vietnam that trains students in technology management, with a focus on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, AR/VR, and fosters creative thinking. The program is developed and organized by the UEH Institute of Innovation (UII). To help new students better understand this exciting field from the perspective of experts and business leaders, UII hosted a live webinar: “Decode” Technology Management and Innovation.

The event featured notable speakers such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thị Bích Nguyệt – Chairwoman of UEH Advisory Council and Director of UII, Mr. Huỳnh Phước Nghĩa – Deputy Director of UII, and Ms. Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo – Executive Director of UII. The guest panel included Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Minh (Director of Data and Analytics, One Mount Group), Ms. Nguyễn Thị Minh Giang (Managing Director of Talent and Corporate Culture, Mekong Capital), and Ms. Lê Thị Kim Cư (Former Executive Director of Dentsu Vietnam). Nearly 150 UEH freshmen, parents, and recruitment firms interested in technology and innovation participated in the online seminar and followed the live stream on UII’s and the Technology Management and Innovation program's fan pages.

Session 1: The Perfect Combination of Technology and Business

Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Minh, Director of Data and Analytics at One Mount Group, emphasized that technology consistently supports businesses, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted how technology enables rapid adaptation to new operational models and opportunities. He stressed that economics students with an understanding of technology hold a competitive advantage, allowing them to quickly develop new business models incorporating advanced technology. However, to achieve this, students must engage in dedicated learning, understand programming, and gain a solid foundation in technology.

Ms. Nguyễn Thị Minh Giang, Managing Director of Talent and Corporate Culture at Mekong Capital, added that employees across all positions need technological knowledge. She emphasized the importance of an agile mindset—being open to new ideas, learning from failures, and quickly adapting. Effective communication skills are also critical for innovation managers, who must liaise with all departments and customers to ensure successful technology implementation.

Ms. Lê Thị Kim Cư, Former Executive Director of Dentsu Vietnam, shared insights from PwC’s latest report on digital skills readiness in Vietnam. Analytical thinking and creative innovation top the list of required skills for the next five years in Industry 4.0, alongside tech-related capabilities and resilience.

  2. Global Standards: The curriculum aligns with international standards, with degree titles matching global practices.

  3. Three Pillars: Management (finance, HR, accounting, etc.), technology (AI, Big Data, AR/VR), and innovation management (Design Thinking, Service Innovation, Social Innovation).

  4. Internationalization: Students interact with professors from global partner universities, such as Leipzig University (Germany) and SMU (Singapore), and have access to modern facilities and practical activities like internships, field trips, and co-working spaces.

  5. Career Prospects: Graduates will be equipped to lead in the digital age, adapting technology in business and taking on roles in digital transformation, startups, family businesses, and more.

The webinar ended with an engaging Q&A session, with 70 pre-submitted and live questions from students asking about the curriculum, career paths, and the technological demands of the program.
