UII Sandbox 2024 Program: The Journey to Turning Startup Ideas into Reality for Students and the Young Generation!

Every year, there are approximately 50 million new startup projects globally, with about 1,000 of them launched in Vietnam (according to statistics from Sài Gòn Giải Phóng newspaper). However, more than 90% of these startups fail, especially those initiated by students. Despite their passion and enthusiasm, these projects often face challenges due to limited resources, lack of practical experience, difficulties in market forecasting, and financial constraints.

Understanding these challenges, UII has returned with a focus on incubating student startup projects, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to increase their chances of success. UII Sandbox 2024 is one of the three key components of the "FinTechNovation Credentials", co-organized by UEH and UOB Vietnam, with co-sponsorship from the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and UOB Group.

In 2024, UII Sandbox – FinTechNovation Credentials will concentrate on supporting startups in the Financial Technology (FinTech) field, a sector that is gaining significant attention and has immense growth potential in the era of Industry 4.0. This program offers an environment for students to explore entrepreneurship, allowing them to experiment, make mistakes, and learn valuable lessons with minimal risk.

• Turn your startup ideas into reality: Over 10 weeks, UII Sandbox will support you from ideation to business model development, preparing your project to enter the market and create a positive social impact. 

• Providing essential knowledge and skills in Fintech and startups: UII Sandbox will provide students with intensive training sessions on entrepreneurship, innovation, fintech, project development, marketing, financial planning, and fundraising, all led by top lecturers and experts. These courses are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for innovative startups, providing tools and methods to build prototypes/MVPs, develop business models, and craft operational strategies. 

• Receive Expert Mentorship: Gain direct advice and mentorship from investors and founders across various industries. These sessions will help you refine your project, solve problems, and attract potential investors.

UII Sandbox 2024 – FinTechNovation Credentials Program Overview and Timeline

UII Sandbox 2024 – FinTechNovation Credentials will span 10 weeks, with activities designed to equip early-stage projects with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources:

• Week 1 – Week 4 (September 10, 2024 – October 5, 2024): Onboarding and Speed-Up: A series of intensive training and startup development workshops led by experienced instructors and mentors.

• Week 5 – Week 8 (October 5, 2024 – October 26, 2024): Building and Developing PoC/MVP: Guidance and support for teams in developing their Proof of Concept (PoC) or Minimum Viable Product (MVP) through Growth Sessions, Office Hours, and Mentorship.

• Week 9 – Week 10 (October 26, 2024 – November 9, 2024): Pitching and Product Launch: Present your business model to mentors and receive your feedback.

• December 7, 2024: Showcase Day – Present your project.

Expected Outcomes After the Program:

• Master Entrepreneurship and Innovation Skills: The program provides students with the essential knowledge and skills to launch a startup.

• Validate Project Feasibility: Participants will receive support in assessing market potential, analyzing competitors, and determining the feasibility of their startup projects.

• Turn Ideas into Prototypes: The program helps students transform their ideas into prototypes or services ready for the market.

• Develop a Viable Business Model: Students will be guided in creating an effective business model for their startups, including identifying revenue streams, cost management, and pricing strategies.
