Unraveling the “Course-wide Challenge” at the Design Thinking for Innovators Class

The second offline session of the “Design Thinking for Innovators” course, part of the “Innovator Pathway – Hành trình đổi mới sáng tạo” program, took place on June 20, 2020, at UEH’s Campus B1. The session saw active participation from students and the wholehearted support of the facilitators.

The class kicked off with an energy-boosting game called “The Wind Blows”, a childhood game that helped students recognize similarities and differences between them, fostering a deeper sense of respect for one another.

Another warm-up activity, "2 Truths – 1 Lie", provided an opportunity to learn more about classmates and practice receiving and interpreting information. This activity also allowed students to apply these skills in various scenarios, helping them better understand customer needs, psychology, and target audiences.

Following the warm-up, the students and facilitators reviewed the content covered in previous offline and webinar sessions. This helped solidify their understanding and allowed the course organizers to receive feedback to improve the quality of upcoming classes.

The second offline session not only clarified the "Course-wide Challenge" but also gave students a chance to meet and exchange ideas, helping them find compatible teammates to form groups to tackle the challenge. A small game was also introduced, allowing participants to remember each other's names easily.

One particularly engaging activity sparked curiosity, encouraged listening, and promoted analysis of various issues surrounding the “Course-wide Challenge” – WORLD COFFEE. Each topic was discussed within self-formed "cafes," where students rotated, sharing their perspectives and knowledge on the subject. This provided valuable insights and prepared them for the upcoming challenge.

With the conclusion of the second offline session, students will now embark on four consecutive weeks of webinars. These sessions will cover detailed theoretical knowledge on each stage of Design Thinking, which students will then apply to solve the "Course-wide Challenge."

The “Design Thinking for Innovators” course follows a “Blended Learning” format, combining both online and offline sessions. The course consists of three offline classes at the Institute of Innovation (June 6, June 20, and July 18, 2020), five webinars hosted on Microsoft Teams, and a variety of pre-prepared videos and study materials to ensure students can manage their learning in a flexible timeframe.
